When Korean War Veterans – many of your grandfathers and great-grandfathers – returned to the American workforce, they took the skills they learned in the military, many of which were derivatives of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, to forge satisfying, well-paying careers in construction, building and rebuilding America.
Today’s military and the construction and chiropractic and health science fields are totally STEM driven. Both fields provide comprehensive and thorough training, internships, advancement, benefits and mentorships to help young people find work and careers they will love and enjoy for a lifetime.
Meet and learn from some of the top professionals in their fields:
Carlos Gomez – President/CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater KC will serve as our Panel Moderator. Carlos also serves as the Executive Director of the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Collaborative, which consists KC Bizfest, the Latinos of Tomorrow, the Young Latino Professionals and The Latino Leadership Institute.
Carol Mutter – Lieutenant General, United States Marine Corps (Ret). She is the first woman in the history of the United States Armed Forces to be selected to a Three-star General.She also became the first woman Crew Commander/Space Director with United States Space Command.
Bridgette Williams – Executive Director of the Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City, representing some 150 contractors and service suppliers responsible for construction of the region’s critical public infrastructure – roads, highways, bridges, airports, reservoirs and utility corridors.
Geoff Jenista – Regional Cyber Security Advisor for Region VII (IA, KS, MO and NE) for the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Integrated Operations Division. He supports the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) mission of strengthening the security and resilience of the nation’s critical infrastructure.
Alise Martiny – Business Manager, Greater Kansas City Building & Construction Trades. The trades provide the Journeyperson, Staff and Apprenticeship Training Programs that help young people get started and build careers. She, herself, has worked as a skilled tradesperson on hundreds of job sites.
Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III – President & Professor, Cleveland University – Kansas City. He is a founding member of the Chiropractic Summit and has served as national spokesperson for the ACA/ICA Alliance for Chiropractic Progress. Dr. Cleveland III teaches Foundations in Philosophy and Science of Chiropractic.
